I have seen a bunch of these scams and usually they're pretty unclear about why the person would have sent you too much money. My friend actually got one of these checks when she was renting out a room and it was for an extra $3000! Clearly that is too much to be a simple mistake. But as these scammers get more sophisticated I can see how many people may fall for the scam. Wow, that one was actually almost believable.
